When storms like Hurricane Ian hit Florida cities many contractors will often rush down from other states to help the local population and find work. While this can be helpful due to the challenge of finding enough contractors to service a highly damaged area it is illegal to do unlicensed work in Florida. If these contractors are identified by local authorities the work may have to stop in the middle of the job. This can result in paid work that is not completed as well as delays on critical work, especially any work connected to mold remediation, roofing, siding, drywall repair and waterproofing. In addition, if you use uninsured storm clean up contractors for storm damage restoration services there is no recourse from insurers if the work is done improperly. So, if you have work done by unlicensed and uninsured contractors you may be paying much more in the long run.
